Description
The link between business success and education could not be stronger and more inter-dependent then right now. What goes on in the classrooms, trade shops and technology labs will help determine whether our region’s economy continues to grow and benefit all communities and industry sectors.
That is why we need you at the table – a roundtable to be exact – to talk about the workforce issues facing businesses and to focus on how community and technical colleges can better prepare people with the skills they need to succeed in today’s economy.
I hope you can join us, business leaders from our region, and Dr. Suzanne Johnson, President of Green River College, Dr. John Mosby, President of Highline College, Dr. Kevin McCarthy, President of Renton Technical College, state lawmakers, and representatives from the State Board of Community & Technical Colleges, for an interactive discussion on the following topics.
- Trends & Training: How do we better meet the demand for the job skills business and industry need, while lowering barriers for people to access the education and training they need to secure family-wage jobs?
- Barriers to Growth: What policy and funding issues need to be addressed?
We are excited to sponsor this leadership roundtable in partnership with the colleges and with participation from small and large businesses, apprenticeship programs, students and lawmakers.
