Beard has been a nonprofit practitioner\, board member and scholar for\n\nmore than 30 years. Presently she directs the Fundraising Academy at City University whose mission is to offer high-quality educational opportunities to further strengthen nonprofit organizations throughout Washington State. Since 2013 she has been a faculty member at Seattle University and also teaches at Everett Community College. Dr. Beard began fundraising as the grants manager for Pacific Northwest Ballet and has held leadership positions at ArtsFund\, the Museum of History and Industry\, the Seattle Repertory Theatre\, Seattle Youth Symphony Orchestras and Cancer Lifeline. She has provided consulting services to numerous local and national organizations. Dr. Beard serves on the board of Puget Sound Grantwriters Association and regularly presents on fundraising and nonprofits. In 2011 she received her doctorate from New York University\, specializing in nonprofit management\, financial management\, applied statistics and survey/sampling techniques.
