SUMMARY:Discovery Northwest -Ageism in the Workplace
DESCRIPTION:Older workers have been experiencing career disruption and degradation in the workplace long before the pandemic\; however\, Covid-19 seems to have exacerbated age discrimination. Studies reveal age discrimination in our workplaces happens all too frequently even though it is illegal and workers over 40 are protected by the EEOC from discrimination. Even with this protection\, many companies continue to discriminate. Research reveals that there are misguided\, if not\, completely false assumptions about older workers that influence this discrimination. We refer to these notions as "zombie" theories because they were refuted and laid to rest long ago.\n\n \n\nDiscovery Northwest supports and assists people who are victimized by age discrimination and seek to re-purpose their current job type\, build skills for an existing job or industry or transition to an entirely new career pathway. We provide:\n\n \n\n	Career Development Analysis & Coaching\n	Training programs for new jobs and their core skills\n	Education for new career pathways\n\n \n\nIn this webinar\, we will explain our services as well as introduce you to:\n\n	Social and cultural Ageism Global and US\n	The law - EEOC\n	Assumptions about older workers in the workplace\n	Combating Ageism\n	Skills and knowledge needed for workplace relevance and employability\n	The importance of continuing education and professional development\n\n Presenter: Dr. George Kelly
