The Turkey Challenge Returns: Torklift Central and Kent United Methodist Church Partner to Bring Back Annual Food Drive

[8/05/24] – Torklift Central is delighted to announce the return of the Turkey Challenge, an annual food drive aimed at supporting families in need during the Thanksgiving season. In partnership with Kent United Methodist Church, this year marks the 12th iteration of the beloved community initiative after a two-year hiatus.

Originating as a grassroots effort over a decade ago, the Turkey Challenge has grown into a beacon of hope and generosity, drawing support from individuals, businesses, and organizations alike. Through the collective efforts of volunteers and donors, the initiative has provided Thanksgiving meals to countless families, embodying the true spirit of giving.

The decision to partner with Kent United Methodist Church underscores a shared commitment to serving the community and spreading joy during the holiday season. By joining forces, Torklift Central and Kent United Methodist Church aim to amplify the impact of the Turkey Challenge, ensuring that even more families have access to a warm meal and a sense of belonging.

"We are thrilled to bring back the Turkey Challenge in partnership with Kent United Methodist Church," said Jack Kay, President at Torklift Central. "This initiative holds a special place in our hearts, and we're grateful for the opportunity to make a difference in the lives of those in need, especially during the holiday season."

As preparations for the Turkey Challenge kick into high gear, Torklift Central and Kent United Methodist Church will be sharing additional details on how the community can get involved. From donation drop-off locations to volunteer opportunities, there will be plenty of ways for individuals, businesses and communities of faith to support the cause.

"We are honored to collaborate with Torklift Central on the Turkey Challenge," said Reverend Jim Head-Corliss, Lead Pastor at Kent United Methodist Church. "Generosity builds bridges and brings us together. It’s the foundation of our communal life. Sharing with our neighbors changes us from the inside out. Join us this year to send a clear and loving message to the world: there really is enough food, enough joy, and enough love for everyone. Your giving will change lives and make a big difference in the world!"
