Local Improvement District Discussion with Business Owners and City Council Monday, September, 15th from 5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. ShoWare Center - 625 West James Street
The idea of an LID is being discussed by the City Council and this issue is moving fast. The bottom line is the City of Kent has grants to complete three grade separations (over or underpasses) on 212th and 228 over the BNSF and UP rail lines. They need approximately 80+ million to complete these projects. They are targeting the business community in the form of an LID to pay for this. Yes, that is a $60+ million bill to the business community. The LID is to be paid in a 15 year period with approximately a 5% interest rate but no penalties for paying in full.
Your Kent City Council needs to hear from you and how this will impact your businesses. For this reason we have set up a meeting with business owners impacted by the LID and the City Council on Monday September 15th from 5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the ShoWare Center. There will be a quick presentation on the LID from 5:45 to 6:15 and then business feedback. Again, it is imperative that you speak up. |
