SUMMARY:Government Affairs and Policy Makers & Business Leaders
DESCRIPTION:The Government Affairs Committee is made up of various business leaders in the community who meet monthly to guide the Chamber in its political endeavors. They monitor several areas of policy on the local\, state and federal levels of government. It is vital to the success of the business community to have a presence when policy issues are being discussed. The Chamber is the voice of the business community and advocates on its behalf every day of the year. The Chamber's actions concerning government affairs are where "the rubber meets the road" when it comes to representing your business interests with government. Our strong role in advocacy allows you to work on your business while the Kent Chamber works on behalf of your business. Most business people\, especially those in small businesses\, do not have the time to keep up on the issues\; much less speak out for them. The Chamber's Government Affairs Committee is your eyes\, ears and your voice.\n\n\n\nMay Policy Makers & Business Leaders \n\nPolicy Maker: Jeff Watling\, Director Parks\, Recreation & Community Services\n\nWe invite you to attend the Government Affairs meeting before Policy Makers from noon to 12:45 and then Policy Makers from 12:45 to 1:30 at the Bell Anderson & Associates Conference room located at the Kent Chamber office at 524 West Meeker\, Suite 1 on May 28th and mark your calendar for future Government Affairs & Policy Makers and Business Leaders discussion on the last Wednesday of every month from noon to 1:30 p.m. \n\n \n\nThe Kent Valley Loop Trail was one of the recommendations of the "Let's Go Kent" walking and biking study\, funded by a grant from the King County Department of Health. The city just completed a master plan to connect the Green River and Interurban Trails\, creating unique loop trail experiences and making Kent a regional biking and recreation destination. When complete\, the Kent Valley Loop Trail system will be five paved\, multi-use loops that:\n\n take advantage of the existing intersection of the Green River and Interurban regional trails at Foster Park at the city's southern end\, \n\n offer fantastic views of Mount Rainier and the Green River\, and\n\nconnect to several parks\, downtown and other area attractions.
